At 12:1 or better, it has one of the best glide ratios of it's GA peers. Find an instructor who really knows how to fly the plane, and you'll do much better.

If you put 4 people and stuff in the Arrow you'll only be able to take like 1 hr of fuel. This is good advice. Most general aviation planes can only fit full fuel with at least two seats empty. Frankly the Bo flies nicer for VFR hand flying, but I’d choose the Mooney for IFR. The Mooneys controls are pretty heavy at cruise speed. And for distance traveling the Mooney is a good ten or more knots faster on the same engine....
