He becomes very involved in the case, to the distress of his wife, Marie, and his two small boys. Harold Nye One of Dewey's principal KBI assistants. Nicknamed "Brother Nye," he is the youngest of the group. Capote became interested in the murders after reading about them in The New York Times. He brought his childhood friend Nelle Harper Lee (who would later win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her novel To Kill a Mockingbird) to help gain the confidence of the locals in Kansas.
